Well, looks like I have to look for a new picture hoster too. Avatar and siggie both are hosted at tinypic.
Any ideas, if the new software might allow to upload avatars and siggies to our new, greater and better server?
At the end, this should really solve the problem, instead of rushing from one picture hoster to the next one.
And if at least the new server would come soon, there might be the possibility of an easy installable upload for our avatars and pictures, even if the new software will need some more time.

Hmmmm.... to my understanding it is easier to control what is uploaded to your server than what is linked from somewhere else.
Any avatar and any siggie which is not on your server, will trace all users that only see them on their screen as members of bl.net.
We never know, who owns the servers that host our avatars and siggies, we never know, what they do with their traffic and connection data, we never know what they do with user data that is refering to bl.net.
And more: normal pictures that are posted in the Darkroom or Gallery have to be controlled every day, if you were right.
Reason: Anyone who wants to blame or flame bl.net could post a nice legal picture, which would be accepted by all, and weeks later, when the post is on page 5 or 10 or 15, he can change the picture behind the link so something illegal.
Nobody on bl.net would get to know this, cause only very few look at very old posts, but if he does that a dozen times, he can inform the authorities (including a list of URLs with illegal material) about bl.net showing illegal pictures ...
Pictures linked to bl.net by external links can be changed to ANYTHING after the post is accepted.
For both reasons I would not call that safe.
To stay safe, a board should host ALL pictures, including avatars, siggies and picture posts on his own server and not let them be changed or edited by the poster.
If done so, any post would only have to controlled ONCE by a mod and could not be changed any more without the knowledge and acceptance of a staff member.
That's what I would call "sure to stay safe".
External links are not safe, neither for the user that sees them on his screen and has his surfing actions traced, or even got a cookie to be controlled even more, nor for the board, who's mods theoretically have to check EVERY post EVERY day for any changes.
That is why I asked.

No, Panther, that is not what I explained.
Imagine that I am the image provider myself. Means: I have a server and link to there, not to photobucket or tinypic or something like that.
Many members link to pictures on their own servers. They do not need to ask a picture provider to upload another picture with the same name ...
No problem to change the picture without editing the post or ask anybody.
What counts:
The server is in Europe, European law counts.
That means: The site owner is responsible for what he SHOWS on his site (including to what he links to), no matter if it is on his server or on any other.
That's the reason, why modern board software is programmed to upload ALL graphic material to the own server for safety reasons and mostly does not allow scripts as siggies.
(You only have control about what is on YOUR server or computer).
And I think, .Daniel's software did that too.
I had the chance to test an early version of it and I think these functions worked well.

From personal experience, I've actually been the one to give "the talk" on a couple of instances.
I think times are changing, both as my SYF as well as my oldest nephew have had talks about sex topics with their mothers as if it was general chat. I believe that they may have gone into deeper discussions on the topics with me, but I think that's out of the fact that some things only a guy would really know and that I'm understanding. I know that some of the discussions I've had with my SYF and him telling me that he asked his mom about it first, I thought "there's no way in hell I'd talk about that with my mother, and she's a nurse." But most all of the YFs I have or have had that were of a sexually-cognizant age and awareness I have had chats about sex. Either in solemnity or in jest. Perverted potty humor about masturbation and blow job jibes to some of them, down to actual discussions on certain parts of the anatomy such as one asking me about why his foreskin sticks too much when he masturbates. That was an interesting discussion to say the least. But no topic is too taboo, asinine, trite, or mundane when talking with boys I know.
So yes, I believe boys that do have AFs do talk about sex. Even if the YF and AF aren't having any sex (with each other at least), they'll still talk about it. Sadly, I'm living proof of that last statement.

No argument coming from me on that. I don't have that kind of experience,but my gut feeling is to believe what you said to be true.
